Spice Up Your Salat

Most of us are taught how to pray by someone close to us, but usually, we are taught the simplest way to pray and we stick with that. I recently found out that during different parts of prayer there are a number of different things which can be said, some very short, some quite long. All of my information was obtained from "Fortress of the Muslim: Invocations from the Quran and Sunnah" by Darassalam publications (and they cite all their references, so no worries, check it out for yourself if you want). But here's what you can do (I tried putting it all in a table, but I couldn't do anything with the table after that, it was too big.)

1. Takbeeratul-Ihram

I. Allahu Akbar

· God is the Greatest

2. Opening Prayer

I. Allaahumma baa’id baynee wa bayna khataayaaya kamaa baa’adta baynalmashriqi walmaghribi, Allaahumma naqqinee min khataaayaaya kamaa yunaqqaththawbul-‘abyadhu minad-danasi, Allaahummaghsilnee min khataayaaya, bith-thalji walmaa’I walbarad.

· O Allah (SWT), separate me from my sins as You have separated the East from the West. O Allah (SWT), cleanse me of my transgressions as the white garment is cleansed of stains. O Allah (SWT), wash away my sins with ice and water and frost.

II. Subhaanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, wa tabaarakasmuka, wa ta’aalaa jadduka, wa laa ‘ilaaha ghayruka.

· Glory is to you O Allah (SWT), and praise. Blessed is Your name and exalted is Your Majesty. There is none worthy of worship but You.

III. Allaahumma ‘Antal-Maliku laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta. ‘Anta Rabbee wa ‘anaa ‘abduka, dhalamtu nafsee wa’taraftu bithanbee faghfir lee thunoobee jamee’an ‘innahu laa yaghfiruth-thunooba ‘illaa ‘Anta. Wahdinee li’ahsanil-‘akhlaaqi laa yahdee li’ahsanihaa ‘illaa ‘Anta, warif ‘annee sayyi’ahaa, laa yasrifu ‘annee sayyi’ahaa ‘illa ‘Anta, labbayka wa sa’dayka, walkhayru kulluhu biyadayka, washsharru laysa ‘ilayka, ‘anaa bika wa ‘ilayka, tabaarakta wa ta’aalayta, ‘astaghfiruka wa ‘atoobu ‘ilayka.

· I turn my face towards the One who created the heavens and the earth, as a true believer. I am not of those who associate partners with Allah (SWT). Verily, my prayer and my devotion, my living and my death, are for Allah (SWT), Lord of the worlds, He has no partners. Thus I have been commanded and I am among those who have submitted. O Allah (SWT), You are the King, there is none worthy of worship but You. You are my Lord and I am Your slave. I have wronged my own soul and confess my sin. Forgive all of my sins, surely none forgives sins but You. Guide me to the perfection of my character, for none guides to its perfection but You. Protect me from the evils of my character, for none may protect me from its evils but You. I am here at Your service. All goodness is in Your hands, and evil is not attributed to You. I am (created) by You, and I am (returning) to You. You are Most Blessed, Most Exalted. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.

IV. Allaahumma Rabba Jibraa’eela, wa Mikaa’eela, wa ‘Israafeela faatirassamaawaati wal’ardh, ‘Aalimal-ghaybi washshahaadati, ‘Anta tahkumu bayna ‘ibaadika feemaa kaanoo feehi yakhtalifoon. Ihdinee limakh-tulifa feehi minal-haqqi bi ‘ithnika ‘innaaka tahdee man tashaa’u ‘ilaa siraatim-mustaqeem.

· O Allah (SWT), Lord of Jibrail, Mikail and Israfil. Maker of the heavens and the earth. Knower of the unseen and the seen. You judge between Your slaves regarding that in which they differ. Guide me to the truth regarding that in which there is difference, by Your leave. Surely, You guide whomever You please to the straight path.

V. Allaahu ‘Akbar Kabeera, Allaahu ‘Allaahu ‘Akbar Kabeera, walhamdu lillaahi katheera, walhamdu lillaahi katheera, walhamdu lillaahi katheera,wa Subhaanallaahi bukratan wa ‘aseela. Subhaanallaahi bukratan wa ‘aseela. Subhaanallaahi bukratan wa ‘aseela. ‘A’oothu billaahi minash-shaytaan min nafkhihi, wa nafhihi, wa hamzihi.

· Allah (SWT) is the Greatest, Most Great. Allah (SWT) is the Greatest, Most Great. Allah (SWT) is the Greatest, Most Great Praise is to Allah (SWT), abundantly. Praise is to Allah (SWT), abundantly. Praise is to Allah (SWT), abundantly. Glory is to Allah (SWT), at the break of day and at its end. Glory is to Allah (SWT), at the break of day and at its end. Glory is to Allah (SWT), at the break of day and at its end. I seek refuge in Allah (SWT) from satan. From his breath and from his voice and from his whisper.

VI. Allaahumma lakal-hamdu ‘Anta noorussamaawaati wal’ardhi wa man feehinna, wa lakal-hamdu ‘Anta qayyimus-samaawaati wal’ardhi wa man feehinna, [wa lakal-hamdu ‘Anta Rabbus-samaawaati wal’ardhi wa man feehinna] [ wa lakal-hamdu laka mulkus-samaawaati wal’ardhi wa man feehinna] [ wa lakal-hamdu ‘Anta Malikus-samaawaati wal’ardhi] [ wa lakal-hamdu] [ ‘Antal-haqq, wa wa’dukal-haqq, wa qawlukal-haqq wa liqaa’ukal-haqq, waljannatu haqq, wannaaru haqq, wannabiyyoona haqq, wa Muhammadun (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) haqq, wassaa’atu haqq] [ Allaahumma laka ‘aslamtu, wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu, wa bika ‘aamantu, wa ‘ilayka ‘anabtu, wa bika khaasamtu, wa ‘ilayka haakamtu. Faghfir lee maa qaddamtu, wa maa ‘akhkhartu, wa maa ‘aasrartu, wa maa ‘a’lantu] [‘Antal-Muqaddimu, wa ‘Antal-Mu’akhkhiru laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta] [ ‘Anta ‘ilaahee laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta].

· O Allah (SWT), praise is to You. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all that they contain. Praise is to You, You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all they contain. [ Praise is to You, You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all they contain.] [ Praise si to You, Yours is the dominion of the heavens and he earth and all they contain.] [ Praise is to You, You are the King of the heavens and the earth.] [ And praise is to You.] [ You are the Truth, Your Promise is true, Your Word is true, Your audience is true, Paradise is true, Hell is true, the Prophets are true, and Muhammad (SAW) is true, and the Hour of Judgement is true.] [ O Allah (SWT), to You I have submitted, and uon You I depend. I have believed in You and to You I turn in repentance. For Your sake I dispute and by Your standard I judge. Forgive me what I have sent before me and what I have left behind me, what I have concealed and what I have declared.] [You are the One Who sends forth and You are the One Who delays, there is none who has the right to be worshipped but You.] [ You are my God, there is none who has the right to be worshipped but You.]

Stuff to Recite Alot

Subhaanallaahi wa bihamdihi

Glory is to Allah (SWT) and praise is to Him.
100 times in the morning and in the evening or 100 times a day.
100 times in the morning and evening to not be surpassed by anyone on the Day of Resurrection except they who have recited it more. 100 times a day to have sins forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea.

Laa 'ilaaha 'illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer.

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah (SWT) alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise and He is able to do all things.
10 times in Arabic in the morning or evening, or once to ward of laziness
10 times to have 10 rewards written, 10 sins forgiven, the reward of freeing 10 slaves, and protection from Satan until dusk or dawn.
1 time to have the reward of freeing a slave from the Children of Isma'il, ten rewards written, ten sins forgiven, and protection from Satan until dusk or dawn.

There is no God but Allah (SWT) alone, He has no partner. To Allah (SWT) is possession of everything, and to Him all praise is. He is capable of all things.
10 times in the morning or evening
To have 100 rewards written, 100 sins forgiven, the reward of freeing a slave and protection from satan until dusk or dawn.

Aoothu bikalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaqa.

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah (SWT) from the evil of what He has created.
3 times in arabic in the evening
To be protected from insect stings.

Allaahumma salli wa sallim 'alaa Nabiyyinaa Muhammadin.

O Allah, we ask for your eace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
10 times in arabic in the morning and evening
To obtain the Prophet (SAW)'s intercession on the Day of Resurrection

Subhan-Allah

Glory be to Allah (SWT) (actually, ANY kind of glorification of Allah (SWT))
100 times a day
To have 100 rewards or 100 sins forgiven.

Subhaanallahil-Adheemi wa bihamdi

Glorified is Allah (SWT) the Most Great and praised is He
1 time
To have 1 date palm planted for you in paradise

For more supplications like the ones above, order one of those little supplication books, I think the most well known one is a little green one. These were all taken from "Fortress of the Mulsim: Invocations from the Quran and Sunnah" by Darussalam publications. Another really good one, not as extensive, but very helpful none the less is "Reflections of Pearls" by Inam Uddin and Abdur-Rahman Ibn Yusuf.

Muslim Online Virtual World

I found this this morning and HAD to put it up:

http://pal.muxlim.com/

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7768601.stm

It's a virtual world where you make a little avatar (male or female) and you can wander around, buy clothes, dress em up and chat with other people. What's cooler is that it has a "pray" option, and the little avatar will actually pray! :D I don't know much about the game, I haven't played it that much, but you get points for positive social interaction or something like that; the developers said it's a lifestyle game, as opposed to a religious game. Read, the bbc article, and check it out for yourselves! n_n

He said WHAT!!??

I stumbled across an ex-Christian's story of his conversion to Islam, and saw something interesting. This man, while discussing Christianity, pointed out that there is a Verse in the Bible, Luke: 24:36, where Jesus (AS) himself says something very strange:

(taken from: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2024:36-49)
Luke 24:36
"While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

Jesus said "Peace be with you". :) That's all fine and dandy, but if I remember correctly aren't those words the internationally known Islamic greeting?? Sure some people will think of this as a trivial argument, but it just blows MY mind!

For your reading pleasure, here's a link to the entire article:

Shepherds Will Compete in the Construction of Tall Buildings

Skyscrapers and large buildings in general and such have simply become a common sight in nearly all cities for around a hundred years or so. But recently, it would seem that these buildings have brought about another sign of the apocalypse. According to Sahih Bukhari:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that the hour will not be established until the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings (Book 88, hadith 237)

Most skyscrapers and such are built because companies need office space, and it's cheaper to go up than out, so they build tall buildings. But with the construction of the world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai, for no real reason other than building the world's tallest building, the competition has started and the hour comes ever closer.

Bahrain is planning on outdoing the burj, as are Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Descriptions of Heaven from the Quran

1. 2:25 But unto those who have attained to faith and do good works give the glad tiding that theirs shall be gardens through which running waters flow. Whenever they are granted fruits there from as their appointed sustenance, they will say, "It is this that in days of yore was granted to us as our sustenance!"-for they shall be given something that will recall that [past]. And there shall they have spouses pure, and there shall they abide.

2. 3:15 Say: "Shall I tell you of better things than those [earthly joys]? For the God-conscious there are, with their Sustainer, gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide, and spouses pure, and God's goodly acceptance." And God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His servants –

3. 3:133 And vie with one another to attain to your Sustainer's forgiveness and to a paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, which has been readied for the God-conscious

4. 3:136 These it is who shall have as their reward forgiveness from their Sustainer, and gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide: and how excellent a reward for those who labour!

5. 3:195 …gardens through which running waters flow, as a reward from God: for with God is the most beauteous of rewards."

6. 3:198 … gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide: a ready welcome from God. And that which is with God is best for the truly virtuous.

7. 4:57 But those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds We shall bring into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide beyond the count of time; there shall they have spouses pure: and [thus] We shall bring them unto happiness abounding.

8. 4:122 Yet those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds We shall bring into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide beyond the count of time: this is, in truth, God's promise - and whose word could be truer than God's?

9. 5:85 And for this their belief God will reward them with gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide: for such is the requital of the doers of good;

10. 5:119 [AND on Judgment Day] God will say: "Today, their truthfulness shall benefit all who have been true to their word: theirs shall be gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide beyond the count of time; well-pleased is God with them, and well-pleased are they with Him: this is the triumph supreme."

11. 7:43 after We shall have removed whatever unworthy thoughts or feelings may have been [lingering] in their bosoms. Running waters will flow at their feet; and they will say: "All praise is due to God, who has guided us unto this; for we would certainly not have found the right path unless God had guided us! Indeed, our Sustainer's apostles have told us the truth!" And [a voice] will call out unto them: "This is the paradise which you have inherited by virtue of your past deeds!"

12. 7:49 Are those [blessed ones] the self-same people of whom you once solemnly declared, `Never will God bestow His grace upon them'? [For now they have been told,] `Enter paradise; no fear need you have, and neither shall you grieve!"'

13. 9:21 Their Sustainer gives them the glad tiding of the grace [that flows] from Him, and of [His] goodly acceptance, and of the gardens which await them, full of lasting bliss,

14. 13:35 THE PARABLE of the paradise promised to those who are conscious of God [is that of a garden] through which running waters flow: [but, unlike an earthly garden,] its fruits will be everlasting, and [so will be] its shade. Such will be the destiny of those who remain conscious of God-just as the destiny of those who deny the truth will be the fire.

15. 14:23 But those who shall have attained to faith and done righteous deeds will be brought into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide by their Sustainer's leave, and will be welcomed with the greeting, "Peace!"

16. 15:45 VERILY, those who are conscious of God [shall find themselves in the hereafter] amidst gardens and springs,

17. 15:47 And [by then] We shall have removed whatever unworthy thoughts or feelings may have been [lingering] in their breasts, [and they shall rest] as brethren, facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness.

18. 15:48 No weariness shall ever touch them in this [state of bliss], and never shall they have to forgo it.

19. 16:32 those whom the angels gather in death while they are in a state of inner purity, greeting them thus: "Peace be upon you! Enter paradise by virtue of what you were doing [in life]!"

20. 18:31 theirs shall be gardens of perpetual bliss - [gardens] through which running waters flow - wherein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of silk and brocade, [and] wherein upon couches they will recline:" how excellent a recompense, and how goodly a place to rest!

21. 18:107 [But,] verily, as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds - the gardens of paradise will be there to welcome them;
22. 18:108 therein will they abide, [and] never will they desire any change therefrom.

23. 19:62 No empty talk will they hear there-nothing but [tidings of] inner soundness and peace; and there will they have their sustenance by day and by night:

24. 20:76 gardens of perpetual bliss, through which running waters flow, therein to abide: for that shall be the recompense of all who attain to purity.

25. 22:14 VERILY, God will admit those who have attained to faith and have done righteous deeds into gardens through which running waters flow: for, behold, God does whatever He wills.

26. 22:23 [As against this,] behold, God will admit those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds into gardens through which running waters flow, wherein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and where silk will be their raiment:

27. 25:10 Hallowed is He who, if it be His will, shall give thee something better than that [whereof they speak] - gardens through which running waters flow - and shall assign to thee mansions [of bliss in the life to come].

28. 25:24 [whereas] on that same Day those who are destined for paradise will be graced with the best of abodes and the fairest place of repose.

29. 26:26 [And Moses] continued: “[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!”

30. 29:58 whereupon unto those who have attained to faith and wrought good works We shall most certainly assign mansions in that paradise through which running waters flow, therein to abide: how excellent a reward for those who labour –

31. 30:15 as for those who attained to faith and did righteous deeds, they shall be made happy in a garden of delight;

32. 31:8 [As against this,] verily, those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall have gardens of bliss,

33. 33:44 On the Day when they meet Him, they will be welcomed with the greeting, “Peace”; and He will have readied for them a most excellent reward.

34. 35:33 [Hence,] gardens of perpetual bliss will they enter, therein to be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and therein to be clad in raiments of silk;

35. 35:34 and they will say: “All praise is due to God, who has caused all sorrow to leave us: for, verily, our Sustainer is indeed much-forgiving, ever-responsive to gratitude –
36. 35:35 He who, out of His bounty, has made us alight in this abode of life enduring, wherein no struggle can assail us, and wherein no weariness can touch us!”

37. 36:55 “Behold, those who are destined for paradise shall today have joy in whatever they do:

38. 36:56 in happiness will they and their spouses on couches recline;

39. 36:57 [only] delight will there be for them, and theirs shall be all that they could ask for:

40. 38:50 gardens of perpetual bliss, with gates wide-open to them,

41. 38:51 wherein they will recline, [and] wherein they may [freely] call for many a fruit and drink,
42. 38:52 having beside them well-matched mates of modest gaze.”

43. 40:40 [There,] anyone who has done a bad deed will be requited with no more than the like thereof, whereas anyone, be it man or woman, who has done righteous deeds and is a believer withal - all such will enter paradise, wherein they shall be blest with good beyond all reckoning!

44. 44:51 [As against this -] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves in a state secure,

45. 44:52 amid gardens and springs,

46. 44:53 wearing [garments] of silk and brocade, facing one another [in love].

47. 44:54 Thus shall it be. And We shall pair them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye.

48. 44:55 In that [paradise] they shall [rightfully] claim all the fruits [of their past deeds], [31] resting in security;

49. 44:56 and neither shall they taste death there after having passed through their erstwhile death.

50. 47:15 [And can] the parable of the paradise which the God-conscious are promised [13] [a paradise] wherein there are rivers of water which time does not corrupt, and rivers of milk the taste whereof never alters, and rivers of wine delightful to those who drink it, [14] and rivers of honey of all impurity cleansed, and the enjoyment [15] of all the fruits [of their good deeds] and of forgiveness from their Sustainer.

51. 50:35 In that [paradise] they shall have whatever they may desire - but there is yet more with Us.

52. 51:15 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs,

53. 52:17 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss,

54. 52:19 [And they will be told:] “Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do,

55. 52:20 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!” And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye.

56. 52:21 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned.

57. 52:22 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire:

58. 52:23 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin.

59. 52:24 And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells.

60. 52:25 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives].

61. 54:54 [Hence, too,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves in [a paradise of] gardens and running waters,

62. 55:52 In [each of] these two will two kinds of every fruit be [found].

63. 55:54 [In such a paradise the blest will dwell,] reclining upon carpets lined with rich brocade; [26] and the fruit of both these gardens will be within easy reach.

64. 55:56 In these [gardens] will be mates of modest gaze, whom neither man nor invisible being will have touched ere then.

65. 55:58 [When you are promised splendours] as though [of] rubies and [of] pearls –

66. 55:64 two [gardens] of the deepest green. [

67. 55:68 In both of them will be [all kinds of] fruit, and date-palms and pomegranates.

68. 55:70 In these [gardens] will be [all] things most excellent and beautiful.

69. 55:72 [There the blest will live with their] companions pure and modest, in pavilions [splendid] –

70. 55:76 [In such a paradise will they dwell,] reclining upon meadows green and carpets rich in beauty.

71. 56:16 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love].

72. 56:17 Immortal youths will wait upon them

73. 56:18 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs

74. 56:20 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose,

75. 56:21 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire.

76. 56:22 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye,

77. 56:23 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells.

78. 56:25 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin,

79. 56:26 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace.

80. 56:28 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit- laden lote-trees,

81. 56:29 and acacias flower-clad,

82. 56:30 and shade extended,

83. 56:31 and waters gushing,

84. 56:32 and fruit abounding,

85. 56:33 never-failing and never out of reach.

86. 56:34 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high

87. 56:35 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed,

88. 56:36 having resurrected them as virgins,

89. 56:37 full of love, well-matched

90. 57:12 on the Day when thou shalt see all believing men and believing women, with their light spreading rapidly before them and on their right, [12] [and with this welcome awaiting them:] “A glad tiding for you today: gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide! This, this is the triumph supreme!”

91. 69:22 in a lofty paradise,

92. 69:23 with its fruits within easy reach.

93. 69:24 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!"

94. 76:5 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers:

95. 76:6 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant.

96. 76:11 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy,

97. 76:12 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk.

98. 76:13 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe,

99. 76:14 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach.

100. 76:15 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal –

101. 76:16 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine.

102. 76:17 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger,

103. 76:18 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way"

104. 76:19 And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls;

105. 76:20 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent

106. 76:21 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure.

107. 76:22 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!"

108. 77:41 [AS AGAINST this,] behold, the God-conscious shall dwell amidst [cooling] shades and springs,

109. 77:42 and [partake of] whatever fruit they may desire;

110. 77:43 [and they will be told:] "Eat and drink in good cheer in return for what you did [in life]!"

111. 78:32 luxuriant gardens and vineyards

112. 78:33 and splendid companions well matched,

113. 78:34 and a cup [of happiness] overflowing.

114. 78:35 No empty talk will they hear in that [paradise], nor any lie.

115. 83:25 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set,

116. 83:26 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise], then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account:

117. 83:27 for it is composed of all that is most exalting

118. 83:28 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink.

119. 88:10 in a garden sublime

120. 88:11 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk.

121. 88:12 Countless springs will flow therein

122. 88:13 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high,

123. 88:14 and goblets placed ready,

124. 88:15 and cushions ranged,

125. 88:16 and carpets spread out…

My Morning and Evening Prayers

There are alot of different prayers that can be recited when one wakes up and before they go to bed, but these are my favorite ones because they seem to fit and are easy to remember.

When going to bed:

a) "Allahuma sali wa salim alaa' nabiyinnah Muhammadin." ten times
b) Recite Ayat al-Kursi
c) "I'm giving my soul to You and I'm turning my face towards You and I'm protecting my back by You. There is no shelter and no escape from You but to You. In Your name I put myself to sleep and I will rise. If You hold my soul, please have mercy on it, and if You let it go, then please protect it for me by what You protect your good people."

When waking up:
a) "Allahuma sali wa salim alaa' nabiyinnah Muhammadin" ten times
b) Alhumdoolillah; All praise is for Allah (SWT) who gave us life after having taken it from us, and unto Him is the resurrection.

What? It Doesn't Come Free?

Many of us know that every Prophet was given a wish, and that our last Prophet (SAW) is holding his for Judgement Day in which he will intercede for the believers. Which is great, but it seems that it's not just going to happen for us (individually, I mean).

The Prophet (SAW) said "Who recites blessings on me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening will obtain my intercession on the Day of Resurrection."

This was reported by At-Tabarani together with two chains of transmission, one of which is reliable (Jayyid).

My personal favorite blessing is:

" Allahuma salli wa sallim 'alaa Nabiyyinna Muhammadin"
" O Allah (SWT), we ask for Your peace and blessing upon our Prophet Muhammad (SAW)"

It's short, concise and easy to remember in arabic!

Reward While You Wait

Wouldn't it be nice to get a load of reward for little effort while you're alive and even after you are dead? There are a few ways you can do this (bear with me, I'll hopefully have references soon):

1. Leave behind (when you die) any kind of continuous charity:
  • Plant a plant or cultivate a crop:
The Prophet (peace be on him) said,

" When a Muslim plants a plant or cultivates a crop, no bird or human being eats from it without its being accounted as a (rewardable) charity for him" (Al Bukhari and Muslim)

" When a Muslim plants a plant, anything eaten of ti , or stolen from it, until the Day of Ressurection, is accounted as a charity for him" (Muslim)
  • Build a Masjid (you will have reward for every person that prays in it)
2. Leave behind (when you die) any kind of useful knowledge (Sahih Muslim)
and of course, the best method of this is through the internet, where hundreds of thousands of people can access the information daily!
3. Have a child who prays for you (Sahih Muslim)

****I CAN'T CONFIRM THIS*****
This leads me to another proposal; wouldn't it make sense that you will also get a sin for each person you mislead? If this is true, then we need to be very careful what we search for online. The internet mostly works by page ratings; the more people that access a page, the more popular it becomes and the more easily found it is; as such, by accessing, for lack of a better word, sinful pages, you are helping make them more accessible and would therefore fall into the category of misleading others, wouldn't you?
