My Morning and Evening Prayers

There are alot of different prayers that can be recited when one wakes up and before they go to bed, but these are my favorite ones because they seem to fit and are easy to remember.

When going to bed:

a) "Allahuma sali wa salim alaa' nabiyinnah Muhammadin." ten times
b) Recite Ayat al-Kursi
c) "I'm giving my soul to You and I'm turning my face towards You and I'm protecting my back by You. There is no shelter and no escape from You but to You. In Your name I put myself to sleep and I will rise. If You hold my soul, please have mercy on it, and if You let it go, then please protect it for me by what You protect your good people."

When waking up:
a) "Allahuma sali wa salim alaa' nabiyinnah Muhammadin" ten times
b) Alhumdoolillah; All praise is for Allah (SWT) who gave us life after having taken it from us, and unto Him is the resurrection.

What? It Doesn't Come Free?

Many of us know that every Prophet was given a wish, and that our last Prophet (SAW) is holding his for Judgement Day in which he will intercede for the believers. Which is great, but it seems that it's not just going to happen for us (individually, I mean).

The Prophet (SAW) said "Who recites blessings on me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening will obtain my intercession on the Day of Resurrection."

This was reported by At-Tabarani together with two chains of transmission, one of which is reliable (Jayyid).

My personal favorite blessing is:

" Allahuma salli wa sallim 'alaa Nabiyyinna Muhammadin"
" O Allah (SWT), we ask for Your peace and blessing upon our Prophet Muhammad (SAW)"

It's short, concise and easy to remember in arabic!

Reward While You Wait

Wouldn't it be nice to get a load of reward for little effort while you're alive and even after you are dead? There are a few ways you can do this (bear with me, I'll hopefully have references soon):

1. Leave behind (when you die) any kind of continuous charity:
  • Plant a plant or cultivate a crop:
The Prophet (peace be on him) said,

" When a Muslim plants a plant or cultivates a crop, no bird or human being eats from it without its being accounted as a (rewardable) charity for him" (Al Bukhari and Muslim)

" When a Muslim plants a plant, anything eaten of ti , or stolen from it, until the Day of Ressurection, is accounted as a charity for him" (Muslim)
  • Build a Masjid (you will have reward for every person that prays in it)
2. Leave behind (when you die) any kind of useful knowledge (Sahih Muslim)
and of course, the best method of this is through the internet, where hundreds of thousands of people can access the information daily!
3. Have a child who prays for you (Sahih Muslim)

****I CAN'T CONFIRM THIS*****
This leads me to another proposal; wouldn't it make sense that you will also get a sin for each person you mislead? If this is true, then we need to be very careful what we search for online. The internet mostly works by page ratings; the more people that access a page, the more popular it becomes and the more easily found it is; as such, by accessing, for lack of a better word, sinful pages, you are helping make them more accessible and would therefore fall into the category of misleading others, wouldn't you?
